Some assistants can be scheduled. This means that you can set one or more schedules that you want to use to wake up the assistant to perform a task.
For example, you might want an assistant to wake up to crawl a website or you might want it to scan for new documents to publish to an SFTP server.
This is all handled in the Configure Assistant view. If the assistant supports scheduling you will find there is a Schedule tab. Here you can add schedules (such as once an hour or once a day).
It is important to note that if you want to use the advanced options to perform scheduling we use the Quartz format cron expression. You can learn more at:
Cron Trigger Tutorial
cron is a UNIX tool that has been around for a long time, so its scheduling capabilities are powerful and proven. The CronTrigger class is based on the scheduling capabilities of cron. CronTrigger uses "cron expressions", which are able to create firing schedules such as: "At 8:00am every Monday through Friday" or "At 1:30am every last Friday of the month".
